Writings

Each entry on this page represents a poem or some other sort of writing that I have done over the years.  They are often very personal, and rarely do these things show up in a more public setting, although two of my poems were published, and the Maundy Thursday poem has made regular appearances at various vigils since it was written.  These writings represent my own struggles with bringing my whole being as a gay man to an institutionalized religion that has often been less than willing for that to happen.  Many of the poems integrate Biblical texts or images, some of which are obvious while others are not.  There are also occasional quotes from some of my favorite poets like Edna St. Vincent Millay and John Donne.  Some poems reflect time spent at Easton Mountain and others grow from current events, like the Pulse shooting.  I offer these as an insight to deeper conversations that are possible.
